The Institute offers BTech and PhD programs and is about to move to its spacious permanent campus of 60 acres near Dharwad (between Oct and Dec 2020).

Academic activities at IIT Dharwad commenced in July 2016 with B.Tech course being offered in three core branches, namely, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The current intake at the institute stands at 40 students in each of the specializations. PhD program commenced from January 2018 session.
