Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhopal

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BHOPAL (IIIT-Bhopal), is one of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (PPP) of National Importance in the country, set up with the objective of making available facilities for higher education, research and training in various fields of Information Technology. To address the challenges faced by the Indian IT industry and growth of the domestic IT market, the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India intends to establish twenty Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) basis. The partners in setting up the IIITs would be the MoE, Governments of the respective States where each IIIT will be established, and the industry. On the same line INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BHOPAL (IIIT-Bhopal) is newly established Educational Institute by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and few industry partners as Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) Institution. The industry Partner of IIIT Bhopal is, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV, Bhopal M.P.). The capital cost of IIIT Bhopal to be contributed in the ratio of 50:35:15 by the Government of India, Government of Madhya Pradesh and third partners respectively. Approximately 50 acres Land has been identified at Bhopal for setting up the institute.
At present, IIIT-Bhopal is operating from its make shift campus at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, till the time its new campus is made operational at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Governing Council consisting of distinguished people from academia, industry and government preside over the governance of the Institute.┬а

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bhopal, is an Institute of National Importance, established in the year 2017 by Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India on not-for-profit Public Private Partnership basis. Academic activates of IIIT Bhopal were started in July 2017 in the campus of MANIT Bhopal. The Director of MANIT and his upbeat faculty members ably took-up the responsibility of mentoring this Institute,┬а that enhanced the academic performance of the Institute.

Prof. N. S. Raghuwanshi,┬аresumed the charge of Director MANIT on 25.05.2017 and is currently on deputation from IIT Khargapur, where he is professor in the department of Agricultural and Food Engineering. He has over 25 years experience in research and teaching various aspects of Water Management, Information Technology Applications in Agriculture and climate change. He has developed several techniques, and research tools and web based course material. He has made significant contribution in the area of irrigation system performance, evapotranspiration estimation techniques, hydrological modeling of agricultural watershed and development of educational and design software.

Seven developed software are copyrighted and have received wide acceptance among different user agencies such as ICAR Institute, State Agriculture Universities and NGOs. He has published more than 110 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has completed several research and consultancy projects funded by various national (ICAR, MOWR, DST, SAC, MHRD, ITRA, CMC, DFID) and international (EU, DST DAAD, Volkswagen Foundation) agencies. He has guided 12 PhDs and Currently 6 PhD Scholars are working with him. He is recipient of rotary International Fellowship, 1990-93; Fulbright-Nehru senior Research Fellowship, 2009-10 and Dr. P.S. Khankhoje memorial gold medal, 2011. He is currently serving in various national committees. He is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE, 2016) and also Fellow of National Academy of agriculture Science (NAAS, 2016).

IIIT

Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are a group of Multidisciplinary Technical Universities of higher education in India, focused on Information Technology Engineering. Five of them are established, funded and managed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The rest are set up on the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Prior to 2013, the IIITs at Gwalior, Allahabad, Jabalpur and Kancheepuram were set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

In 2013 the Indian Institutes of Information Technology Bill 2013 was introduced in Lok Sabha.The bill sought to grants the status of Institutes of National Importance (INI) upon the four IIITs. After much debate and changes, the bill was passed by the Parliament on 1 December 2014┬аand published as Indian Institutes of Information Technology Act, 2014 on 8 December 2014, coming into effect on 5 January 2015.

Admission

Admissions into undergraduate programmes in IIITs for 4,000 seats are through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and JEE-Main.[20] For postgraduate programs admission is through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
