Indian Institute of Information Technology Senapati, Manipur (IIITSM)┬аis an institution under MHRD, Govt. of India. IIIT Senapati, Manipur was established in 2015 in order to develop Manipur as preferred destination for Information Technology (IT) related manpower and industry. This shall enable Manipur to gear up for providing IT related services as well as high-quality Research & Development in IT. IIITSM offers B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and PhD in CSE, ECE and Humanities and Basic Sciences from its own campus located at Mantripukhri, Imphal. Although a new institute, the campus has adequate classrooms, laboratories for CSE and ECE, conference hall, playground, hostels, faculty quarters, guest house and own administrative offices. The excellent student-faculty ratio enables 360-degree technical supervision and personal development of each student.

IIITSM is one of the 20 IIITs set up by the Government of India in PPP mode. Being an┬аInstitute of National Importance┬аIIITSM strives to be attentive to academic needs of every student. Classes are conveniently scheduled between 8 A.M. to 5:00 PM. Institute-wide WiFi connectivity empowered students to explore about the life-changing tools 24x7.

Mission

The IIIT Senapati, Manipur undertakes the mission to provide technical education by offering state-of-the-art undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes with international standards of excellence and with emphasis on research to undertake collaborative projects which offer opportunities for long-term interaction with academia and Information Technology (IT) industry as well as technology development in the area of national importance.

Objectives

  • IIIT Senapati, Manipur has been set up as an institute of international standard for offering UG (B.Tech.), PG (M.Tech.) and Ph.D. degree with a unique model of partnership of the Govt. of India in joint partnership with State Government of Manipur and industry partners.
  • To provide best-in-class human resources to the growing electronics, manufacturing & design and IT software and services industry in India as well as technology development in the area of national importance such as e-Governance in the medium terms.
  • The IIIT Senapati, Manipur also aims in foster research and development in advanced engineering and applied sciences in M.Tech. and Ph.D. levels.
  • To have a strong industry interface to harness the multi-dimensional facets of IT, electronics and design in various domains.
  • To increase the student capacity to meet the growing demands for industry leaders from domestic and international Markets.
  • To achieve international character by having provision for intake of a certain percentage of foreign students right from graduation level, especially from the South East Asian and SAARC countries.
  • To provide mechanism for exchange of faculty with similar institutions of international repute.

B Tech Programs

Indian Institute of Information Technology Senapati, Manipur is an institution under MHRD, Govt. of India. It offers B Tech courses in two disciplines,┬аComputer Science and Engineering (CSE)┬аand┬аElectronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). IIIT Senapati, Manipur started operations in July 2015 with B.Tech programmes in CSE and ECE from its transit campus located at Mantripukhri, opposite to Software Technology Park, near CRPF Camp in Imphal.

Seats offered for admission in each discipline BTech (CSE) and (ECE) for the academic year 2017-2018 is 50 each.

IIIT

Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are a group of Multidisciplinary Technical Universities of higher education in India, focused on Information Technology Engineering. Five of them are established, funded and managed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The rest are set up on the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Prior to 2013, the IIITs at Gwalior, Allahabad, Jabalpur and Kancheepuram were set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

In 2013 the Indian Institutes of Information Technology Bill 2013 was introduced in Lok Sabha.The bill sought to grants the status of Institutes of National Importance (INI) upon the four IIITs. After much debate and changes, the bill was passed by the Parliament on 1 December 2014┬аand published as Indian Institutes of Information Technology Act, 2014 on 8 December 2014, coming into effect on 5 January 2015.

Admission

Admissions into undergraduate programmes in IIITs for 4,000 seats are through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and JEE-Main.[20] For postgraduate programs admission is through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
