Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam at Valavoor, Pala, Kerala is one among the IIITs that have been established as "Institutions of National Importance" by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India under the ambit of IIIT (PPP) Act 2017. IIIT Kottayam campus is situated at Valavoor, Pala, Kottayam - a picturous location, spread over in 53 acres of land - allotted by Govt. of Kerala in the southern part of the state commonly referred to as God's Own Country.
The institute offers 4 year B.Tech and B.Tech (Hons) program with specialized courses covering all major research domains of computer science and engineering, viz Data Science, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Parallel Computing, HPC, Programmimg Languages, Bio Informatics and so forth. The Institute also offers a 4-year B.Tech and B.Tech (Hons.) program in Electronics and Communication with specialized courses covering all major research domains viz, Signal Processing, Communication, Networking, VLSI design, Embedded Systems, Computer Vision, and Applied electromagnetics.
The students are admitted against the JoSAA/CSAB counselling against the JEE main rank list. In addition, Institute also offers Ph.D programs in CSE, ECE and Mathematics as well as M.Tech in AI & Data Science for the working professionals.

IIIT
Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are a group of Multidisciplinary Technical Universities of higher education in India, focused on Information Technology Engineering. Five of them are established, funded and managed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The rest are set up on the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Prior to 2013, the IIITs at Gwalior, Allahabad, Jabalpur and Kancheepuram were set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
In 2013 the Indian Institutes of Information Technology Bill 2013 was introduced in Lok Sabha.The bill sought to grants the status of Institutes of National Importance (INI) upon the four IIITs. After much debate and changes, the bill was passed by the Parliament on 1 December 2014┬аand published as Indian Institutes of Information Technology Act, 2014 on 8 December 2014, coming into effect on 5 January 2015.
Admission
Admissions into undergraduate programmes in IIITs for 4,000 seats are through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and JEE-Main.[20] For postgraduate programs admission is through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
