Inspired by the size and shape of a coffee cup, the manufacturers of Cuppa set out on a mission to create the most portable and functional lamp the world has ever seen. Cuppa is a cordless LED touch lamp with full-body touch control technology and many other awe-inspiring features. More than being a fancy lamp, Cuppa solves the common problems with LED lamps. With Cuppa, you no longer have to worry about long cords that make your desk messy or short cords that limit the portability or how you can use your lamp in the absence of a socket.
Full-body touch control
Cuppa features full-body touch control that allows you to switch your lamp ON or OFF from any position on the base. Gone are the days of fumbling around for a tiny switch on the lamp’s cord. Simply touch anywhere on the base of your lamp and there is light! Importantly, the buttonless technology doesn’t sacrifice any functions. You can still dim Cuppa’s light as you would for a regular lamp. To trigger the stepless dimming, touch and hold anywhere on the base of the lamp.
Memory mode
Cuppa’s memory mode allows you to turn your lamp back on each time, at the previous level. Alongside the stepless dimming feature, the memory mode makes it easy to customize your favorite type of illumination. And if you need to change it, it doesn’t take more than a touch.
Ultra-fast charging
Cuppa features a type-C ultra-fast charging technology that’s similar to the technology in the most advanced smartphones. With just 10 minutes of charging, you can use Cuppa for up to 2 hours. Incredible, isn’t it? But what’s even better is that the lamp can last for 12 hours at full charge, and it takes only 2.5 hours to attain full charge. Another advantage of the type-C charging technology is that in the unlikely event of a blackout, you can easily charge Cuppa with a power bank or power station.
Lightweight and portable
Normally, you would associate lightweight lamps with poor quality plastic material and a propensity to fall over at the slightest touch. However, this is not the case with Cuppa. Weighing a decent 1.98Ibs, the lamp is made from eco-friendly materials and there’s a sticky base pad that makes it extremely steady. Even if you place Cuppa on a tipping tabletop, the manufacturers assure there’s a zero chance of it falling off.
Long-lasting and durable
Even though Cuppa is made from recycled fabric, there’s hardly any lamp that can boast of comparable durability. The lamp is water-resistant, flame-retardant, and equipped with a sticky base. This makes it capable of withstanding many scenarios that would destroy regular lamps. Using Cuppa would also reduce your ecological footprint because it saves 80% energy when compared with standard bulbs.
Pricing info
Cuppa cordless LED touch lamp is currently at the crowdfunding stage. The lamp is available at an early-bird price of $99. You can check out the Kickstarter campaign page to see other available pledges and rewards.

Startup
A startup or start-up is a company or project undertaken by an entrepreneur to seek, develop, and validate a scalable business model. While entrepreneurship refers to all new businesses, including self-employment and businesses that never intend to become registered, startups refer to new businesses that intend to grow large beyond the solo founder. At the beginning, startups face high uncertainty and have high rates of failure, but a minority of them do go on to be successful and influential. Some startups become unicorns; that is privately held startup companies valued at over US$1 billion.
Actions
Startups typically begin by a founder (solo-founder) or co-founders who have a way to solve a problem. The founder of a startup will begin market validation by problem interview, solution interview, and building a minimum viable product (MVP), i.e. a prototype, to develop and validate their business models. The startup process can take a long period of time (by some estimates, three years or longer), and hence sustaining effort is required. Over the long term, sustaining effort is especially challenging because of the high failure rates and uncertain outcomes. Having a business plan in place outlines what to do and how to plan and achieve an idea in the future. Typically, these plans outline the first 3 to 5 years of your business strategy.
Design principles
Models behind startups presenting as ventures are usually associated with design science. Design science uses design principles considered to be a coherent set of normative ideas and propositions to design and construct the company's backbone. For example, one of the initial design principles is "affordable loss".
